Governing Law
VASA is recognized in the Vermont Statutes, Title 23, Chapter 31. Vermont Statute directs VASA to enter into an agreement with the State of Vermont, through the Agency of Natural Resources and Department of Forests, Park and Recreation. That agreement provides for funding, through the registration of ATVs and the issuance of citations for ATV related infractions and violations. The agreement directs and authorizes VASA to develop and manage the state-wide ATV trails.
In doing so, VASA is also obligated to other Vermont State laws and regulations including but not limited to Highway law, Recreation Law, Fish and Wildlife law and others. VASA is often compared to VAST (the state wide snowmobile organization) and derives much of its’ intent and language from those laws. Links to some of these areas of Vermont law are provided herein.
